Choral Clinician and Conductor
Anna Tabita Abeleda Piquero is an international choral clinician and a world-renowned conductor, namely of the Internationaly acclaimed University of the East Chorale and the University of Visayas Chorale. She led both choirs in winning top prizes in Asia and in Europe making them two of the best university choirs in the Philippines. Currently she also conducts the 2014 awardee and 2015 nominee of AWIT awards, one of the best all male choirs in the Philippines, the Koro Ilustrado, who just recently won prizes at the 2015 Busan International Competition where she was also awarded Best Conductor.
She was invited as a jury member by Interkultur: 2012 in Calella, Spain and 2014 Bali Indonesia and she also sits as jury regularly in various national choral competitions in the Philippines and Indonesia.
In 2010, she became the featured conductor of the Asian Youth Choir and the Busan Metropolitan Chorus.
She held choral clinics in Tomohon International Choral Competition, Indonesia; Busan International Competition, Korea; and several more in Borja, Spain, Singapore, Thailand, etc for choirs preparing for local and international competitions.
Her choral roots were first, as a member and assistant conductor of the U.P Singing ambassadors, afterwards, as a member of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, eventually pursuing her Conducting degree at the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music and at the University of the Philippines College of Music. At present, she serves as an artistic board member of the Philippine Choral Directors Association.
