Ms Virginia Bono

Musical Director, Children's Choir and Girls' Choir of Instituto Coral de la Provincia de Santa Fe

Choir conductor and music pedagogue, Mrs. Bono graduated from the Universidad Nacional del Litoral in Santa Fe, Argentina and did her postgraduate studies in Choral Conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany.

Virginia Bono serves as the musical director of the chamber choir Estudio Coral Meridies, the Children choir and the Girls Choir at the Instituto Coral de la Provincia de Santa Fe. She also led as music director various choirs in Argentina, Germany and Austria.

Mrs. Bono was invited to conduct various distinct choirs as well as lead master classes and workshops not only in Argentina, but also in Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Panamá, Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Hungary and Portugal. Virginia Bono led the Atelier “Sur, pasión Latina” and “Piazzolla tango for choir” at the XIX Europa Cantat in Pécs 2015 and the Atelier “Landscapes from Latin American” at the Europa Cantat Junior in Lyon in 2017.

Virginia Bono is a well sought of member of jury in international choral and music competitions. She also gave conferences on choral music as part of several international festivals.

In 2018 she has been part of the international jury of the X World Choir Games in South Africa and recently as a workshop teacher at the IX América Cantat (Panama), Singing Week Flanders (Belgium) ), the atelier “Misa a Buenos Aires” (Misa-Tango) at the Festival 23rd Choralies in Vaison-la-Romaine (France), as the unique teacher of the European Academy for Choral Conductors (Italy) and as a guest conductor of the Rheinland-Pfalz Landesjugendchor (Germany).

With her own choirs she participated in various international competitions, winning several awards and distinctions. She herself was distinguished at the “Mariele Ventre” International Competition for Choral Conductors, Bologna, Italy in 2003, and as “Best Conductor” at the Aamcant Competition for Folk and Popular Music. Her choirs were selected to participate in prestigious choral events as representative of Argentina and South America. Her Estudio Coral Meridies were selected as the only one choir from Latin American for the XI World Simposium on Choral Music in Barcelona 2017. With the Estudio Coral Meridies she give concerts as guest in Polyfollia in France in 2010, La Fabbrica del Canto in 2011, Europa Cantat 2012 in Italy and Setmana Cantant Tarragona in Spain in 2017.

As a Conducting teacher, she leads a Choral Conducting Masterclass that is held annually in Santa Fe as well as two study groups in Choral Music, which are integrated by conductors and advanced students from throughout the region.
