Colourful Stones Chorus of Shenzhen Shekou School was founded in 1995 and currently has 200 members, consisting of students from Grade 1 to Grade 8 in the Shekou School. The choir is praised as “a group of people lighting up the Olympic sky of chorus”. Under the baton of Zhao Zhi, the choir has a great work ethic and won multiple awards and accolades both in China and on the international stage. Most notably, the choir achieved a Gold Prize in the Grand Prix of Nations, Riga, and 3rd European Choir Games in 2017.
The choir also won Gold Prize in the 13th China International Choir Festival (2016), 4th Shenzhen Choir Festival (2016), Shenzhen School Art Exhibition Choir Festival, came in first place at the Shenzhen Primary and Middle School Students Choir Festival Competition (2018), 6th Guangdong Primary and Middle School Art Exhibition Festival (2018) and named “Top Ten Most Popular Choir” at the 19th China Children’s Choir Festival (2018).
For the choristers, the choir is not just a place to sing, but also where they learn life skills, moral values and build bonds that last a lifetime.
