Feature Choirs


Since its foundation by Māris Sirmais in 1990 Youth Choir Kamēr... has shaped its unique signature and quality and is one if the leading amateur Choirs in the world. Over the last 27 years the choir has won numerous awards and charmed audiences un 4 different continents.

Based in Riga, Latvia the two-time European Grand Prix winner is a great example of Latvian choral music tradition and is well renowned for its nuanced performances including programs of classical and baroque music, traditional folk music, as well as contemporary world and Latvian music.

Kamēr… has developed its signature style with programs specially commissioned for the choir: World Sun Songs (2008), Madrigals of Love (2010), Moon Songs (2012) and Amber Songs (2014), which has brought to successful cooperation with world-renowned composers as Sir John Tavener, Giya Kancheli, Sven-David Sandström, Leonid Desyatnikov, John Luther Adams, Stephen Leek, Dobrinka Tabakova, Ko Matsushita, Eriks Ešenvalds, Pēteris Vasks among others.

Almost all of the choir's original music as well as various choral classics in the choir's repertoire have been recorded in a series of CDs available also in iTunes.

Kamēr... has perfectioned its unique sound characteristics and performance by empowering both vocal quality and emotional surrender, a characteristic of amateur singers.
